Just a quick post for those that may be shopping for an American Express Platinum card. There is a sign up bonus of 40,000 points which has not been publicised but you will need to be referred by an existing platinum reserve cardholder who will get 20,000 points for doing so. This is the best sign up bonus I have seen for this particular card but I must mention the $395 annual fee but if you were going to spend that anyway, now you know how to get 40,000 points.
